Installation of a transformer substation

The installation of a transformer substation is a procedure, the execution of which is entrusted, exclusively, to qualified personnel capable of performing installation work in any weather conditions. Regardless of the degree of remoteness of the future substation from the existing high-voltage power lines, the staff of the installation company must take all measures to ensure safety during electrical installation work. We are talking about measures that meet the requirements of the updated edition of the rules of the PUE. The first condition that ensures compliance with the presented requirement is to create opportunities for conducting electrical work with the high-voltage power line disconnected.

Installation of transformers is allowed in the room where the main consumers of electric current are located. This method of installation is practiced in the absence of opportunities for the installation of remote transformer substations (for example, during the electrification of shopping pavilions, entertainment centers, etc.).

The assembly of the transformer substation and the installation of power transformers is completed by the installation of cable lines. This is followed by commissioning, which includes the implementation of the following activities:

• check of cable lines;

• checking power transformers for operability;

• checking the integrity of bus bridges and devices for metering energy consumption.

The first start-up of the electrical installation is carried out with the permission of the electrical laboratory and implies a check of the equipment performance at idle speed. If the test is successful, then voltage is applied to the transformer station.

Due to the fact that a transformer substation can be located at some distance from energy consumption objects, the installation of a transformer very often implies the performance of related work:

• installation of cable lines;

• installation of overhead and underground power lines;

• installation of couplings;

• related work related to high-voltage installation.

Installation of complete transformer

It is necessary to distinguish between two types of complete transformer substations: KTP and KTPN. The letter "H" in the abbreviation means that the unit is of outdoor type. Complete TPs are designed for different operating capacities, and depending on this indicator, they are divided into several categories:

• external package transformer substations - have a capacity of 25 ... 400 kW;

• industrial packaged transformer substations - have a capacity of 160 ... 250 kW;

• KTP with specialized purpose.

Installation of closed transformer substations

Closed substations are usually subdivided into the following types:

• adjoining TP - installations that are adjacent to the main building;

• closed (built-in) substations - located within the outer outline of the main building;

• intrashop - located in the internal areas of production facilities.
